Further information

Supporting children and young people’s participation

EPs are committed to working with children and young people to help them be involved in the decisions and processes which affect them. This means that EPs will take the time to provide children and young people with clear information about the role and work of the EP and why they have been asked to see them. They will also pay careful attention to children and young people’s views and how they want these to be represented. EPs will explain to children and young people that they have the right of non-participation but only after they have correctly understood the role and work of the EP and the views and concerns of relevant adults. EPs will also provide children and young people with feedback following any work that they have undertaken with them.

We are also developing ways of consulting with children and young people in the design and evaluation of services that they receive from Leicester City Psychology Service.
