Pindar nursery

We provide an educational placement for children between the ages of 2 and 5 with complex and enduring special educational needs and/or disability.

Further information

Placement at the nursery is by joint referral from an early years support teacher and an educational psychologist working with the child.

Facilities available

Light room
All the children use this highly interactive room either individually or in groups. For some children the equipment will be used to develop visual awareness, for others the understanding of cause and effect. The room is also ideal for drama, story-telling and relaxation. Switches are attached to some of the equipment to help children gain more experience of control and decision making.

Spa room
A warm spa bath, is available for all children, and is especially beneficial for those with physical difficulties. Children use the Spa individually or in small groups, accompanied by one member of staff in the water with them.

Soft play room
All children like to let off steam and this is the perfect room! The exciting environment of the soft playroom allows children to climb, roll, slide and explore in perfect safety, under the supervision of the nursery staff.

ICT
Fun is an essential part of learning, and learning to control events through playing with switch-operated toys and equipment leads to understanding essentials such as cause and effect, and the power of communication.

Minibus
Our 16 seat minibus allows all children to visit the wider community. Seating is safe and secure (the minibus has front facing seats with inertia belts designed to secure individual car seats where necessary) and all staff driving the minibus have passed the minibus driver's competence test.
