The quality inclusion team can support schools who are considering the use of alternative provision. We have produced an alternative provision handbook to support with commissioning.

Further information
Additional resources and information around alternative provision will be added to this area, as they become available.
Leicestershire Education Business Company (LEBC)
All schools are asked to register every student who attend an alternative provision (AP) with LEBC. This service is free and commissioners will receive:
- A Young person's risk assessment for each student to share with the students and parents/guardians.
- Confirmation of key health and safety information about each AP including insurance and policy checks that LEBC carries out on an annual basis.
- Commissioners will be added to the AP serious incidents alerts list, so that if/when LEBC are notified of any serious incidents at an AP commissioners will be notified where appropriate, to allow for additional checks or to consider withdrawing students depending on the nature of the incident and LEBC investigation results.
Top-up funding pilot for short-term use of alternative provision and reintegration into mainstream
Applications will be reviewed by the alternative provision top-up funding panel, which will meet weekly from 16 May 2025. Schools should no longer apply for top-up funding that includes alternative provision through the Element 3 application process. Any applications already in the Element 3 top-up funding system will automatically transfer to the Alternative provision top-up funding panel.
