Proficiency codes for EAL learners

Many schools have chosen to continue to collect proficiency codes for EAL learners even though this is no longer a requirement of the DfE. The codes provide a common language to understand the profile of our schools’ EAL population. The EAL group of LESP have requested that this information is collected in order that schools can understand their own population language proficiency and share practice with others.

Prohibition checks on newly appointed teachers

Schools are required to conduct a ‘prohibition check’ on individuals carrying out teaching work. This check verifies that the candidate is not subject to a ‘prohibition order’.

New health and wellbeing area launched

We recognise that the Covid-19 pandemic may have been a difficult period for many staff and supporting employee health and wellbeing is especially important during these times. That’s why the human resources and health and safety teams have been working together to build a new health and wellbeing area for staff to utilise 24/7 365 days per year should the school buy into the HR core and/or H&S services.
