Scholarship programme for talented maths and physics students

This exciting initiative aims to get more young people into teaching maths and physics. Funded by the DfE, the objective is to encourage exceptional maths and physics students to get into teaching the subjects which they feel passionate about, and to educate and enable future generations of mathematicians, engineers, scientists, innovators and inventors. We find that following the completion of their undergraduate studies a high proportion of Scholars return to teach in the area that they grew up, and so this is a valuable opportunity to feed a pipeline of exceptional teachers to schools in your region.

Proficiency codes for EAL learners

Many schools have chosen to continue to collect proficiency codes for EAL learners even though this is no longer a requirement of the DfE. The codes provide a common language to understand the profile of our schools’ EAL population. The EAL group of LESP have requested that this information is collected in order that schools can understand their own population language proficiency and share practice with others.
