The Children Act 2004 and Education & Inspections Act 2006 set out a series of requirements on local authorities and schools that relate to children missing from education (CME). The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2016 came into force on 1 September 2016; the focus of the legislation is to improve information sharing between all schools and LAs to assist in identifying children missing in education.
