Meningococcal b (MenB)
MenB disease in England and information to be shared with your school community
Further information
MenB vaccinations programme
Following recent outbreaks of the MenB disease in England, a temporary vaccination programme is being introduced for eligible young people who are at increased risk, including current Year 13 students and those under 25 starting university or living in student accommodation for the first time.
We would be grateful if you could help us raise awareness by sharing the below letter to parents and information with eligible students and their parents/carers through your usual communication channels.
The information explains why this vaccine is being offered, who is eligible, the signs and symptoms of meningitis and septicaemia, and what to do if someone becomes unwell.
Your support will help ensure students and families have the information they need to make an informed decision and know when to seek urgent medical help if they are concerned.
Thank you for your continued support in protecting the health of young people across our community.
