Designated specialist provision
We are asking for expressions of interest from schools who would like to explore the possibility of opening a Designated Specialist Provision (DSP).
The attached form allows this expression to be recorded and sent to the LA. Thank you to those schools that have already sent in their expression of interest.
When all expressions have been received the local authority will undertake an analysis of the type of need catered for and size of potential DSPs and then contact schools to discuss plans in more detail.
Update 28 June 2018
As you know Leicester City Council asked for expressions of interest from schools who would like to explore the possibility of opening a Designated Specialist Provision (DSP). We have received a number of positive expressions of interest. Thank you to colleagues who have already done this. The purpose of this post is to give those colleagues who may still be considering this possibility a further opportunity to express an interest.
By expressing an interest the school is not committing itself to develop a DSP. The school (and the council) may determine that the DSP is not best developed at the school when further details are explored. May I encourage colleagues who think this may be a development opportunity for their school to complete the attached form and return it before the summer break.
